The other day as I looked out my kitchen window I swore I saw my lilac bush full of blooms. Quickly I put on some shoes, threw a coat and shoes on my toddler and rushed outside ready to pick the beautiful blooms. Unfortunately, they were not quite open yet. I keep checking every day and I know soon they will be ready for me to enjoy both outside and in. My great grandmother had many lilac bushes and her name was actually Lila! So those flowers in particular hold a special place in my heart. Of course where I live there are wildflowers growing already along with my planted tulips and more. It’s so nice to finally see varying colors out in the field instead of just stark white snow! If you are ready to beat the drab winter blues then I think the Wild Flowers Correspondence Cards are just the thing for you. These beautifully vibrant cards come as flat light blue with a floral border that allows just the right amount of pep without taking away from your writing space. The top has a space for your name to be centered and allows for plenty of writing...Read More
Now my husband claims his favorite color has always been blue. I don’t know if it is because it just is ingrained into boys that blue is for them or if he genuinely likes it. I like to tease him that it’s because his eyes are such a bright blue, he wears blue to bring them out, as he is just a little vain of his baby blues. Whatever the case whenever he has to go clothes shopping or stationery shopping, blue is what he is drawn to. He even insisted on having a shade of blue as one of our wedding colors! When my husband is out in the field working instead of in his office, he has to take copious amounts of notes. So that is why an item like the Blue Sheaffer Pen is ideal for him. This sleek Sheaffer pen is stylish and functional. Better yet you can have your name printed on it which makes it truly yours and stops people like me, grabbing it out of the home office to jot down a grocery list with. The pen is sold personalized for $19.95 and comes in a variety of colors with blue ink only....Read More
We all have our favorite things. Whether it is food, sports, or author. But, one of the first things you ever truly have a favorite of is a color. I can remember hot pink being the new big deal for me and all other little girls who grew up in the late 80’s and early 90’s but, as I grew older my love fell to the color green again and again. Maybe it is because I grew up a farm kid and the wide open spaces of green pastures and gardens ready to be dug into are comforting. Maybe I just wanted to not conform to the typical blue and pink. I think it’s probably a mixture of both. I love the calming feeling a nice grass green or sage gives me. Green looks terrific with my skin tone. So why not? I tend to love all things green. Whether it be fabric for my clothing or decor for my home. Green gives me a sense of tranquility. At American Stationery we have plenty of items available for you in whatever color is your favorite and that includes my favorite. The Rhomboids Desert Stickers and they are so funky I...Read More
If you’re anything like me when it comes to gift giving, you’re competitive. You like to give the best gift, something personal, something thoughtful, and watch the recipient nearly cry from happiness. Everyone enjoys a gift that truly speaks to their personality, their interests, or their style. Recently, I’ve become obsessed with monograms, and I’m assuming you have, too. It’s the perfect way to personalize anything and everything; it’s the gift that says, “Hey, I’ve really thought about YOU!” And the best part: you can slap a monogram wherever you see fit. If you aren’t familiar with how the monogram works, I’ve included some tips below. Adults can use a one-initial, two-initial, or three-initial monogram for personalization. Single-initial monograms feature the last name initial, and the two-initial monogram combines the first and last initials. Pretty simple, right? These are not as common as the three-initial monogram, but they are equally great for personalization purposes. The three-letter monogram is the most traditional, and there are a variety of ways in which you can design it. One of the most common for single adults is to order the initials first, last, and middle, with the last name initial being larger in the...Read More
I can only speak from my point of view but, as a mom I must say, it can be incredibly hard to get your kids to do their chores. Now that spring has officially kicked in many of us are looking forward to vacations. Whether it’s a quick spring break getaway for two or a family road trip the idea of just “getting away” is on nearly everyone’s mind.  Deciding on the amount of time to take is the first step when planning a trip. Check with your employer to see what kind of vacation time you have. If you are self-employed take a look ahead and see how long everyone can manage without you. To do this though, you will need to have an inkling of an idea on where you are going. You can’t plan on the amount of time you need to take off work if you don’t know how long it will take to get there and how many activities you’ll want to participate in. Choosing a destination is something that you have likely been doing for a while.  Most everyone has a list of places that they want to vacation at some time in their life. Start with that list and deduct destinations based on what is feasible for you this year.  Or maybe your family has a particular place you go to every...Read More
Attending a housewarming party can be a very fun time. Often these parties are thrown as a way to politely show off a new home. Other times, they can be thrown kind of as a “just because we love to entertain!” Of course it is always possible that they only throw the party for the gifts although we really like to think that the latter doesn’t happen all too often. Regardless, it’s fun looking for a present to bring to a housewarming party. Gift-giving doesn’t have to be stressful or feel like a chore. Think about why you are buying the gift in the first place. Not out of obligation (although, it is polite to bring a little something) but, because you are happy for the person.  You attend the party because you wish to show them how happy you are for them and want to share in the joy. So when you have been invited to a housewarming party, you may be curious about what to bring.  The first thing you will want to do is think about what you know about the person(s) whose party you are attending. Also take clues from the invitation that you received. Often...Read More
During the winter months it can be much more difficult to keep in touch with family and friends. This has been especially true this winter as many of us have had to experience a more frustrating winter than normal due to the weather. With the cold weather, the piles of snow and the sheets of ice this winter has kept many of us at home more than we would like. While the internet can provide for instant relief of the necessity for conversing with someone, there isn’t much to it. There’s no sentiment or warmth.  So why not write down a message to your friends and family. A funny thing that happened recently, a letter updating how you have weathered the recent storm, or even a rant on how your kids will have no summer this year because of all the “make up” days. Whatever you have to say get it all out by writing it down. It’ll give your loved ones something to smile about when they make that long, difficult trek to the mailbox and notice they have a personal note inside. It will likely encourage them to respond back and then they too can get it all out....Read More
Thanksgiving is just around the bend. It won’t be long before Tom Turkey is sitting on the table, parades are on the tube and college football fills the family room. Although, all of those things are fun, exciting and things we all enjoy, let’s not forget to take time to be truly thankful. This year take a few moments to reflect on the months past. What are you thankful for? Who are you thankful for? Share you thankfulness with others. A word of thanks is thoughtful, poignant and a beautiful sentiment to share. We suggest dropping a line of gratitude to those people who have done things behind the scenes, those who often go unnoticed for their hard work. Who are the folks behind the scenes of your life? Mail Carrier or Newspaper Deliverer They see that you get your belongings come rain, shine, snow or wind, and in extreme cold or heat. Leave a little note of thankfulness in the mailbox. The garbage man. Tape a quick thank you to the top of your trash can lid. It’s a dirty job and someone has to do it. Aren’t you thankful it’s not you?
