Time to pack away the winter coats and pull out those shorty shorts — spring is finally here! The temperature’s rising, the days are getting longer, and backyard grills are firing up. Yes, it’s warm weather, the time to think outside the entertaining box. So take your next party or get-together outdoors for some fun. Nothing can zap the energy out of a party or your guests like heavy summer heat. Avoid midday events, especially those between noon and 3 p.m., when the sun warms even the shadiest of spots. Try a morning brunch, late afternoon mixer, or enjoy the evening with dinner on the lawn. Once warmer weather hits, nothing is better than lounging outdoors surrounded by bright flowers, lush trees and, of course, family and friends. Good planning of outdoor areas is essential to maximizing relaxing, enjoyment and entertaining and making sure the space fits all of your needs. The front door should be your home’s exterior focal point — ramp up the appeal by painting it a rich hue, updating door hardware or adding a new knocker. For a seasonal touch, hang a spring wreath or craft your own eclectic one using gardening tools DYO 16 Oz....Read More

The other day as I looked out my kitchen window I swore I saw my lilac bush full of blooms. Quickly I put on some shoes, threw a coat and shoes on my toddler and rushed outside ready to pick the beautiful blooms. Unfortunately, they were not quite open yet. I keep checking every day and I know soon they will be ready for me to enjoy both outside and in. My great grandmother had many lilac bushes and her name was actually Lila! So those flowers in particular hold a special place in my heart. Of course where I live there are wildflowers growing already along with my planted tulips and more. It’s so nice to finally see varying colors out in the field instead of just stark white snow! If you are ready to beat the drab winter blues then I think the Wild Flowers Correspondence Cards are just the thing for you. These beautifully vibrant cards come as flat light blue with a floral border that allows just the right amount of pep without taking away from your writing space. The top has a space for your name to be centered and allows for plenty of writing...Read More

Astronomically speaking, the March equinox occurs when the Sun crosses the celestial equator on its way north along the ecliptic. In the Northern Hemisphere, the March equinox is known as the vernal, or spring, equinox and marks the start of the spring season. In the Southern Hemisphere, this equinox is known as the autumnal, or fall, equinox and marks the start of the fall season; the vernal equinox for the Southern Hemisphere occurs in September. Weather scientists divide the year into quarters this way to make it easier to compare seasonal and monthly statistics from one year to the next. The meteorological seasons are based on annual temperature cycles rather than on the position of Earth in relation to the Sun, and they more closely follow the Gregorian calendar. Using the dates of the astronomical equinoxes and solstices for the seasons would present a statistical problem because these dates can vary slightly each year. Diaper Tiers Invitations These cute diaper cake invites a perfect for your baby shower, whether you’re having a boy or girl. Meteorologically speaking, however, in the Northern Hemisphere the official spring season always begins on March 1 and continues through May 31. Summer begins on June...Read More

Summer is right around the corner. We are that much closer to warm, sunshine-filled days and relaxing by the pool. Memorial Day is often an unofficial marker to the beginning of summer, and it is approaching quickly. Many of us choose to celebrate this holiday by gathering with friends and family, having a small party, and firing up the grill to cook delicious foods, all while remembering the service men and women who have dedicated their lives to our country. We could never celebrate or say thank you enough, but I am always glad to have a special day to observe this important holiday and be reminded of our country’s history. If you are planning a social gathering for Memorial Day this year, American Stationery has some great party items for you to wow your guests. Coasters, napkins, and cups – all personalized for you and your party. We have tons of coasters to choose from, but my favorites for Memorial Day are the Designer Coasters with the Monogram. There are three options with red, white, and blue as the colors, and you can create the monogram of your choosing. Pattern 18 – red swirls is my favorite! You receive...Read More

In many countries, Teacher’s Days (or Teachers Day) are intended to be special days for the appreciation of teachers, and may include celebrations to honour them for their special contributions in a particular field area, or the community in general. The date on which Teachers’ day is celebrated varies from country to country. Teachers’ days are distinct from World Teachers’ Day which is officially celebrated across the world on October 5. As of November 4, 1976, November 6 was also adopted as Teachers’ Day in the U.S. state of Massachusetts. Currently, Massachusetts sets the first Sunday of June as its own Teachers’ Day, annually. Now my husband claims his favorite color has always been blue. I don’t know if it is because it just is ingrained into boys that blue is for them or if he genuinely likes it. I like to tease him that it’s because his eyes are such a bright blue, he wears blue to bring them out, as he is just a little vain of his baby blues. Whatever the case whenever he has to go clothes shopping or stationery shopping, blue is what he is drawn to. He even insisted on having a shade of blue as one of our wedding colors! When my husband is out in the field working instead of in his office, he has to take copious amounts of notes. So that is why an item like the Blue Sheaffer Pen is ideal for him. This sleek Sheaffer pen is stylish and functional. Better yet you can have your name printed on it which makes it truly yours and stops people like me, grabbing it out of the home office to jot down a grocery list with. The pen is sold personalized for $19.95 and comes in a variety of colors with blue ink only....Read More

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been at a conference, reception, or a networking event of some sort, and someone has asked me, “I’d love to stay in touch, do you have a business card?” or “We have a few jobs that we are trying to fill, and I’d love to chat with you about more opportunities.” And to his/her surprise, I’ve made an awkwardly, sour face and replied, “Noooo,” in a sing-songy voice filled with shame. Then, I follow it up with, “But I can take your business card and contact you!” in a desperate attempt to convey the message that I am a responsible adult and very interested in building new relationships and pursuing opportunities. Lesson learned? Always have a generic business card handy. Always. By generic, I mean a personal business card that represents you and your personal brand. A business card that is not affiliated with your current place of employment or another company. A business card with your name, personal email, a phone number, and maybe city and state. A business card that incorporates your sense of style and easily communicates your personal information. There are plenty of websites that promote designing your...Read More
