Personalized gifts no matter what the value is, gives more impact to the receiver, because it is something that is carefully thought of and that includes an extra effort from the giver. If you know the person very well, you already know what kind of gift they really want to receive, you can also consider giving a thing that a person will never consider of buying. If the person you are giving loves to bake, a heart muffin pan is a cool gift, or a specialty cake in a cake shop or coffee shop that is something they’ve never tried before. It’s so hard to imagine celebrating the most special occasions in our lives without thinking about receiving and giving gifts to our love ones. Examples of these celebrated special occasions are: birthday, Christmas, graduation day, christening, house warming, mother’s day and father’s day. There are also some people who are giving gifts without any occasions; for them, it is something that makes them feel good, and it is one of their way of showing their love, thoughtfulness and affection to their love ones. It also brings joy and happiness for the receiver, especially if the gift is personalized just...Read More
Every year kiddos wait in anticipation for the much loved Easter Bunny! While most parents love and cherish the beautiful church services and the joy of watching their children hunt eggs and find their basket what we don’t love is the junk. Sure candy is great in moderation. And little toys are fun until ten minutes later when they break. Of course we would never say to not buy some chocolate bunnies and cutesy jump ropes. We would maybe suggest purchasing something with a little more staying power. Give them something that might be used to teach them? Maybe teach them to write thank you’s? Or just to write to people in general. Aunts and Uncles who live across the country will enjoy hearing hear from their young niece or nephew. Of course you can always send an email but, receiving a hand written note is always enjoyable. Especially enjoyable if that note is hand written by a child. It is equally fun for family members to watch how their spelling and penmanship improves over the years. For a great gift consider something like the Fun N’ Travel Notes & Labels? Item 7000 comes with 48 notes and 70 seals...Read More
From work and family obligations to the omnipresence of technology, we live in a time where everyone is extremely busy and wrapped up their own lives. As a result, the basic rules of etiquette sometimes fly right out of the window. But as businesses struggle for differentiation, etiquette is really more important than ever.  Professional social situations can be awkward. The rules are slightly different from standard social settings, yet business schools rarely discuss professional etiquette topics. From how to introduce yourself to what to order at restaurants, these are the social rules you need to know when establishing relationships. For organizations and employees alike, recognizing the critical link between business protocol and profit is the key to your success. In a business situation, you should use your full name, but you should also pay attention to how others want to be introduced.  Stand when meeting someone or shaking hands. Stand up, show a modicum of respect, and pretend like the person you are meeting is of some interest to you at the moment. Anything less is disrespectful. Think to yourself, “is this how I want to start this relationship?”. I’m a big believer in the concept of paying it...Read More

It’s finally spring! Oh, this winter has been a rough one for most of us. With record snowfall and blistering cold temperatures, I for one am just happy to see the word spring appear on the calendar! Even though it’s a chilly 40 degrees right now, I hear birds chirping and am dreaming of full bloomed lilac bushes, Easter orchids and more! There is just something about flowers that represent spring. Those first green stems starting to stick up from the still cold ground. The little buds of green sprinkled across a bush or tree. It’s exciting, it’s fresh and best of all this year, it means warmer weather is at long last on it’s way. At American Stationery, there is no lack of floral and spring designs for your stationery or other personalized gift. Nothing says spring more than a small bouquet of blooming daisies. Every now and then it’s nice to stray from the norm. Try something different. Whether that something different is a new food, a new clothing style, maybe even a book. Trying something new gets us outside our comfort zone, which in turn helps us grow. It maybe even allows us to take on a different personality of sorts.   For instance, you may be someone who always has their name on their stationery. Their name is fully spelled out in all its glory. It’s your name you should be proud of it, but every once in a while it’s fun to go with a monogram. If you are typically a script name kind of lady, then changing it up with a bold block monogram on some funky designed note cards, is a great way to change it up. Personally, I typically prefer a traditional design that is something classic and clean. If you are the same then you should take item 2656 for a spin. If you are typically a name toting traditionalist this ultra- modern chevron design shines in trendy yellow and gray. But, don’t let the hip factor fool you; it still says I’m a classic. For $66.00...Read More
We’ve talked about it before, one of the reasons we don’t write much anymore is because there seem to be much easier ways to communicate. Or at least quicker ways like the telephone, social media, texting, and email. What method we use to communicate says a lot about what we want to say. If it’s a quick hello or question, then it makes perfect sense to be quick about it. But, something that makes letter writing truly important is the way writing makes you feel. When putting a pen to paper, we feel more at ease “letting it all out”. When we send a quick text to say life has us frustrated, we’re angry, in the moment and unable to resolve anything. Sobbing on the phone does not allow a moment of clarity. But, when we are writing, we are thinking. We become agitated, we calm down, we realize what it was that upset us, what went wrong, and what can be. There is a reason we’re told to journal and keep diaries when we’re younger. Writing how we feel helps us sort out our feelings. There is therapy in writing. Like when you think back to a conversation and you...Read More
While, it is not necessarily what I would call a new year resolution, I have decided that I will start remembering things more. Or, rather start writing myself notes more. So what better way to do that than to use sticky notes? I don’t know if it is a sign of getting older, or simply just human nature? Maybe, I’ve gotten myself to busy? On some days I think we are all a little too busy aren’t we? Even my son’s teacher encourages all the kiddos in her classroom to use notes to help them. And yes, I have been known to stick a note to a backpack with a reminder to turn homework in. With all the uses for sticky notes there is simply no sense in having any of the old boring non-personalized ones.  American Stationery has several different styles of sticky notes. There is certainly one to fit every person’s individual style. And you can personalize them which make them ideal for a family full of forgetful folks. For those of us out there who are hoping that thinking spring will bring the warm weather a little bit sooner, there is the Style 2 option from our...Read More
This time of year, many of us are still making last minute attempts to get those thank you notes sent out from all the holiday gifts we received. In my house this year, that is especially true. We had a baby in November, Christmas in December and celebrated two birthdays in January. So in between feedings and sleeping, I have been writing thank you notes. It’s something I won’t allow myself to slack on much. Saying thank you to those who have taken the time to send a gift, a card, or a warm meal is very important. I was taught at a young age that you always send a note and as quickly as you can. I’m a little slow this year but, I think playing the new baby card will help.  Having said that let me tell you about some of the thank you notes here at American Stationery. A new one that is bound to be a big seller is item number 3124. This note is called the Celestial Thank You Note Set. The set contains 20 note cards and 20 envelopes with four each of five different vibrant colors. When folded the note measures to 5.75”...Read More
