Not everyone celebrates Christmas. Some couples forgo yearly anniversaries in favor of celebrating longer milestones like decades. Obviously not everyone is American and, thus, they don’t observe the same gift-giving holidays in America, such as Valentine’s Day, Father’s Day, and Mother’s Day. But, no matter where you’re from or what religion you worship, you were born into this world and therefore have a birthday! It’s probably the one thing we all share in common when it comes to holidays. Some people don’t celebrate at all, while others just slightly observe the occasion. But, most of us throw birthday parties, which is especially the case for younger kids and our family members. Shopping for birthday party supplies isn’t something that many people put a lot of thought into. For instance, many just walk down the aisle of the grocery store and grab some paper plates, a pre-made cake from the deli, some ice cream from the freezer, and call it a day. But a birthday means more than those generic items. It’s an occasion that’s worth celebrating. And, if you’re going to throw a birthday party, why not make it a party to remember, with high-quality party accessories? Glassware for Classier...Read More
There are certain times when it just makes sense to use personalized stationery.  Sure, sending a quick email or even a text are easy ways to send a message or convey a thought to someone, but they truly do not have the same effect as using a handwritten note.  That is why we went in search of five of the best uses for personalized stationery.  It wasn’t hard at all to come up with five reasons, but we consider these five of the best. Love Notes The first great use for personalized stationery has to do with love.  Can you imagine something more romantic then uncovering a handwritten love note?  Writing a love note takes a special approach; after all, it is your opportunity to pour your heart out.  Doing so on a special piece of stationery only adds to the romance. If you become the lucky recipient of a handwritten love note, even better!  Remember, when you want to say, “I love you,” put your own words into play.  A handwritten note gives you the opportunity to be personal and speak straight from the heart. Sympathy Notes When it comes to using personalized stationery, another of the most appropriate...Read More
Everything makes a statement when it comes to stationery.  From the paper you use, to the way you address your cards, it all works together.  But, how do you know if you are making the right statement?  It starts with the basics.  From the paper to the actual design, we break down all you need to know about choosing the perfect stationery. Choosing Paper First, we begin with choosing the paper, itself.  Paper comes from either wood or cotton.  Using wood derived paper is a less expensive option because of the availability of trees.  Many people choose this route because wood source stationery is generally more affordable to them. Some paper, though, is still made from cotton.  If paper is made from cotton, it will have a richer and softer feel.  You will pay for the luxury, but it is hard to pass up the feel of soft, rich cotton stationery.  These beautiful papers are both luxurious and elegant. Choosing Color Next, you have to consider color.  Stationery comes in a variety of colors, including many variations of the color white or ivory.  You can also choose to include some bold colors in your stationery, with the card itself, the...Read More
Summer is almost here and if you haven’t visited your local farmers market yet, you should. Going to the farmers market is a little different than shopping at the grocery store. If you show up too late, you may find that much of the best produce and meat selections are gone, especially if you’re shopping at a smaller market. According to a national survey, a major trend is local food — local meats and produce, “hyper-local” ingredients grown in your own garden, and farm or estate branded items. When you buy into the “buy local” movement, you’re supporting farmers in your community and your local economy. It’s also an opportunity to go green and refresh your healthy eating habits. Here are some tips to get you started. Finding your local farmers market is as easy as typing “farmers market” into a search engine. Markets are often held in city parks or local parking lots. You might be able to go to nearby farmers who sell their products or let you pick your own produce. Acrylic Clipboard And Memo Set Your name is etched on the over-sized acrylic clipboard. Astronomically speaking, the March equinox occurs when the Sun crosses the celestial equator on its way north along the ecliptic. In the Northern Hemisphere, the March equinox is known as the vernal, or spring, equinox and marks the start of the spring season. In the Southern Hemisphere, this equinox is known as the autumnal, or fall, equinox and marks the start of the fall season; the vernal equinox for the Southern Hemisphere occurs in September. Weather scientists divide the year into quarters this way to make it easier to compare seasonal and monthly statistics from one year to the next. The meteorological seasons are based on annual temperature cycles rather than on the position of Earth in relation to the Sun, and they more closely follow the Gregorian calendar. Using the dates of the astronomical equinoxes and solstices for the seasons would present a statistical problem because these dates can vary slightly each year. The time of festivals is upon us and with each weekend comes another local festival with food fun, and probably a little sneak into the local heritage. Here in Indiana, festivals are almost constant; with several even in our coldest months. However, June through September seem to be the most happening times of all. When planning to visit a festival there are many things to keep in mind. A guide below should allow for an easier visit the next time you hit the road to explore your local (or not so local) festival. Make sure you have a clear route to your destination, along with a map or some type of gps device. Grandparents For holidays like Christmas, finding the right gift for each family member can get quite stressful. You want to find something that they will really love or actually put to good use. For your grandparents, take into account their personality and hobbies. Think of the relationship you share as well and personalize the gifts accordingly. Select a picture of your grandfather or grandmother with all the grandchildren or just of you and them. You can then have the picture turned into a puzzle for them to put together. When you give him the present, keep the picture on the front of the box covered so that they cannot see what the picture is of. Challenge them to try to figure it out as they put the pieces together and watch them smile as the picture starts to form. Ah, Labor Day. The unofficial “last hurrah of Summer”. The arrival of Labor Day means the unofficial end of summer. Either way, Labor Day is a welcome weekend for almost everyone, it is often marked by weekend getaways, a relaxing time at home with the family, barbecues in the park, or for tens of millions of Americans, road trips. My memories of those trips include my brother, and I each having a square board with 25 spaces with 24 different images of things we were to look for as we drove. When we spotted, a stop sign, a school or a tractor, we would look for the symbol on the board and, slide a little window across that spot. It wasn’t complicated, but it forced us to take in the scenery and mildly interact with each other instead of fighting. Here are some simple guidelines for your road trip, barbecue, day on the lake or staycation: Decide in advance where you’ll stop for meals. Even if it’s a rough estimate it will prevent driving for too long, stopping at restaurants with long lines, and grumpy children/family members. Fill up with gas, water, and snacks before you go. Labor Day is notorious...Read More
