What’s the correct order for my initials in a monogram?
The first initial of your last name should appear in the middle, with your first initial to the left and your middle initial to the right. For example, if your name is Jonathon Kevin Swift, your monogram would read JSK.
How do I combine my initials with those of my spouse to create our monogram?
If you both share the same last name, the first initial of the last name should be listed first, with (traditionally) the woman’s initial listed first (to the left) and the husband’s listed second (to the right). The monogram for Jonathon and Anne Swift would be ASJ.
For couples who will be keeping (or hyphenating) their names, the best rule is to follow what you think looks best. A simple option is to use each initial from the two first names. Another option is to include the first and last initials of each person (4 letters total).
